Mauritius is located in the Indian Ocean, its roughly 12 hours flying time from the UK with direct flights available most days with Air Mauritius and British Airways, and daily indirect flights via Dubai with Emirates.

The island has a wonderful climate, warm weather all year round. The island experiences two seasons, Summer from November to April and Winter May to November. Throughout the year, there is not much difference in weather conditions, there are minor changes in temperature between the seasons but no well-defined rainy/wet and dry season.

The official language is English although you will hear other languages spoken as the island has a very mixed culture of Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and Christianity.

Mauritius is renowned for its stunning beaches, which are mainly fine white sand, with some of the most beautiful located on the east coast. Water sports, snorkelling and diving are extremely popular in Mauritius, although mainly popular in the north of the island, there are water sports available all over the island and many available directly from your hotel resort.

Mauritius also has a mountainous interior with rainforests, waterfalls and hiking trails. Great for adventure and wildlife, there’s so much to offer from zip wires, quad bikes, mountain biking and even walking with Lions.

Grand Baie located on the North of the island is a popular resort with holidaymakers, there are loads on offer from designer boutiques and craft shops to upmarket restaurants and nightclubs, it is also the starting point for many island excursions, boat trips and dive cruises. The nearby Mauritian Capital of Port Louis is also worth a visit to experience Mauritian life and culture.
